Washington County, Tennessee is seeing its first FEMA reimbursement since Hurricane Helene and the devastation it left behind. Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy said the county has seen around $5.5 million in reimbursement and is excited to see the continued progress being made in the area. The first reimbursement comes about 16 months after Hurricane Helene. The county has been working on many projects related to Helene damage with county and state funding, and this is the first reimbursement of that work from the federal government. Gandy said that county leaders are excited for the chunk of reimbursement received, but a long process is still ahead.
